Synopsis

Olivia Barrett’s always had a weakness for bad boys and Tyler Chamberlain is no exception. His tattoos, his piercings, and even the fact that he has a girlfriend doesn’t keep her away. Interested in Tyler since she first saw him pick up a guitar, she’s been trying to find ways to be with him for years. He’s the one Livvie runs to when she needs a friend, the one who makes her laugh and holds her when she needs to cry. Unfortunately, they are never single at the same time and sneaking around is getting old. Now, tired of making bad decisions, Livvie’s making changes. Her friends are all starting to grow up and she doesn’t want to be left behind. Terrified her friends are moving on without her, she's’s determined to make things work with Emmett, her on-again off-again boyfriend since high school. The only problem? Tyler isn’t ready to let her go. Despite her boyfriend and his girlfriend, these two are drawn together like magnets. When she’s with Emmett she wishes she was with Tyler and vice versa. Will Livvie ever get tired of pretending and pick one guy? Or will she keep bouncing back and forth between the two of them indefinitely?

Prologue

He makes me so mad! It’s my birthday, and instead of celebrating with my boyfriend, I’m at home, fuming over the stupid shit he always does. Emmett knows today is my birthday, but instead of making plans to spend the night with me, he’s with his teammates. I mean, come on! I bailed on plans with SB, Jess and Lily tonight to spend time with my boyfriend. I was actually planning on giving up my virginity tonight…I figured hell, I’m eighteen now, I’m an adult, sex is my decision right? Wrong, apparently. My bedroom door shuts behind me and I whirl around, thinking he’s followed me in, but no, of course not. It’s Tyler, Chris’s friend and old bandmate. A guy I’ve had a crush on since he started coming around when he first moved to Nashville from London. Looking over at him in shock, because I really didn’t expect to see him, or anyone here tonight. My parents aren’t home, which is par for the course, and my brother…oh shit! Chris is home on leave so that means the rest of the old band is here too. They always hang out and play when he’s home. “What’s wrong Livvie-girl?” His softly spoken words, in the accent that’s not as pronounced as it was the first time I met him, saying the nickname he gave me, bring tears to my eyes. Turning back away from him, not wanting him to see me cry, not over something as stupid as my boyfriend having an away game on my birthday. Trust me, I know the way I’m acting is selfish, but it just feels like everyone has abandoned me this year. My parents are out of town, my boyfriend refused to blow off his game, and I can’t beg my friends to hang out with me because I already told them what my plans were for tonight. If I call any of them, they’ll just feel sorry for me. Tyler’s hands land on my shoulders, squeezing gently before he turns me back around to face him. The concern in his eyes unravels me; I just want to be close to someone, to feel like someone cares. I collapse into his chest, crying softly while he strokes my hair, murmuring sweet words to comfort me. We only stand like this for a few minutes, just until I can get my emotions under control. “Are you ready to tell me what has you so upset, love?” He tips my chin up so I’m looking into his eyes, but I don’t want him to see just how messed up I am tonight. I just want to forget everything, forget how cheated I feel. Tonight was supposed to be the night…my eighteenth birthday, the first time I go “all the way” - which sounds really corny by the way. We’ve done everything but the actual deed so I shouldn’t feel so cheated. It’s just, I’m tired of being one of the only ones in my group of friends who hasn’t done it yet. It’s just SarahBeth and me and she’s waiting for someone who will never, ever notice her like that. I don’t want to end up like her, alone and pining for someone I can’t have. I can’t say any of that to Tyler though, so I just say, “I’m just upset because I’m spending my birthday alone.” There, that should suffice. I shouldn’t have to elaborate on those words. Besides, now that I’m in here, in my room…alone with a boy, a boy that I’ve always wanted to be alone with, I’m getting ideas. Ones I shouldn’t act on, but I’m angry, still feeling the sting of rejection from Emmett refusing to blow off his game. “Ahh,” he says knowingly, “your birthday? How old are you now?” He tilts his head sideways, studying me as he waits for my answer. My smile turns wicked as I trail a finger down his chest, then his really nice abs, stopping just above the snap on his jeans. Looking up at him, I breathe the word, “Eighteen.” His light brown eyes darken until I’m almost unable to tell where his pupils end and the color begins. This so isn’t me, but I like the effect I’m having on him. “Mmmm, that’s a good age, Livvie-girl,” he says, his voice suddenly much deeper. I know I’m playing with fire, but I just can’t help myself. Tyler rubs his thumb against my bottom lip, prompting me to touch the tip of my tongue against it. His indrawn breath makes me feel powerful, like I’m doing something naughty when I shouldn’t be. Which of course, I am. Technically, I have a boyfriend…at least I think I still do. I’m not really sure because I told him that if he didn’t blow off the game, he shouldn’t call me again. It’s not the first time I’ve made the threat and I’ve never followed through with it before, but Tyler’s finally paying me attention. I’ve wanted him to notice me since the day I met him, the broken boy who’d just lost his mom and moved in with a father who didn’t know he’d existed until the day his mom’s will was read. I’m feeling reckless and bold, and I’m not sure if it’s because it’s him or my birthday, or just the idea that I’m doing something I’m not supposed to be. I talk a lot of shit, but deep down, I’m really a good girl. Always doing what my parents tell me, never really getting into trouble. Up to this point, the only rebellious thing I’ve done is putting a bright red streak in my dark hair. My parents freaked about that one until I assured them it was temporary - even though it’s not. Tyler’s free hand strokes down my arm leaving a trail of goose bumps in its wake before settling on my waist. The warmth of his hand seeps through my light shirt and into my skin as I stretch up on my toes to brush my mouth against his briefly. His hand tightens as the other moves from my chin around to the back of my neck, tangling in my hair and holding my head still. Before I can ask what he’s doing, his mouth lands on mine, kissing me roughly. I’ve never been kissed this way, and when I don’t push him away, he pulls back just enough to trace the seam of my lips with his tongue, silently asking for acceptance. I don’t even think of denying him, opening immediately and sucking his tongue into my mouth. He growls, pulling me harder against him and letting me feel his obvious erection against my stomach. I’ve made out with a few guys, but none of them have ever made me feel like this. I feel like I’m freezing and burning up all at the same time. Tyler knows exactly how to touch me to make my body ignite, and I’m wondering why I bother with high school boys when the older ones are so much better.

Everything I Need, by Stacey Mosteller

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book made me cry happy and sad tears!

Everything I Need is the romantic conclusion (book 2) to SarahBeth and Jeremy's lifelong story in the Nashville Nights series. I highly recommend reading both "Save Me From Myself" (David and Lyric's story) and "Everything I Shouldn't" (book 1 of SB's & Jer's story) before reading this one to get the full blown emotional effect. I cried, I laughed, I swooned, I cringed, I wanted to slap a bitch... basically, it kept me highly entertained and made me go through the gamut of emotions. WIN!

Both characters start off in emotional turmoil after the dramatic events of Everything I Shouldn't. It's a constant struggle between what each of them wants as opposed to doing what is best. Both characters are flawed and have to grow in order to have any chance at a Happily Ever After. The characters evolve at a nice pace. Luckily for them, they are surrounded by wonderful friends to slap some sense into them.

Speaking of secondary characters, they are WONDERFUL! I love how Stacey Mosteller brings her characters to life, each with very distinct personalities. For David and Lyric fans, you will most definitely get your fill! Wyatt and Peyton are also present... Wyatt is such a sweetie!

Lots of hints are dropped throughout the book in regards to the Olivia / Emmett / Tyler love triangle (their book is next). Now I'm all grabby hands, wanting it on my bookshelf NOW!

Synopsis

SarahBeth Pearson has made mistakes, and I might just be the biggest one of them all. After spending months keeping secrets and lying to everyone close to us, it’s all fallen apart and we are each left alone to pick up the pieces. I’ve loved SarahBeth in one form or another her entire life. The steps that brought us closer together weren’t easy for me to take. After letting her dictate our relationship, I’ve found myself practically homeless and estranged from my closest friends. Now I’m left trying to move on, finding a new place to live and getting everything I need in order, while she’s trying to mend her broken heart. There’s just one problem…SarahBeth’s still keeping secrets - and her secret just might change everything.
Excerpt

It feels like I'm at confession, getting ready to lay out all my sins and ask what I need to do for penance, "You know my relationship with most of my family is shit." "Yes," she says softly, confusion evident in her voice. "Luckily, you haven't had much interaction with my mother, but she's always getting into and out of trouble. Usually it's something to do with drugs or alcohol, she's been arrested for prostitution because she had to pay her dealer or she begs people for money because she owes somebody. She gets mixed up with people she shouldn’t be associated with at all. This time, the guy demanded names of people she was close to, she gave him my name of course. Constance and Henry will never give her money, and my grandmother doesn't have much to give. Being in my life put you in danger, and I couldn’t allow that. Unfortunately, my fuck up of a mother gave them your name in an attempt to manipulate me, so they're already aware of you. It also means there’s no reason for me to stay away from you, because they already know who you are.” I've kept my gaze locked on her face throughout the entire explanation, watching her face grow more pale, knowing this is what I wanted to prevent. The last thing I want is for her to be scared or upset, but being a part of my life makes her ammunition for my mother. "Did you not think I could handle it?" her voice is resigned, but I can hear the anger just below the surface. "That I'd want to be there for you...with you? We were great together, Jeremy...together we could have handled anything." Not wanting to explain my actions yet again, actions that were meant to keep her safe, I say, "I just wanted to protect you..." Before I can explain any further, she finally turns to face me, her eyes sparking angrily as she glares at me, her temper snapping. "Are you seriously telling me that you stayed away from me just because your mom is a crappy person? You've made my life a living hell for six weeks because you wanted to protect me?" She stands, almost vibrating with fury and hurt. As soon as she stops talking, I cut in, "Yes! It's my job to protect you." Doesn't she get that? All of this was to protect her, from my damn mother's bullshit touching her innocence. "How do you know I couldn't handle it? I'd do anything for you Jeremy!" I stand now, struggling to explain further, because this is the last reaction I expected from her, but she cuts me off, her voice thick with tears. "Did it ever occur to you that I wouldn't care? That I would want to be with you regardless? Do you really not realize how much I loved you?" The fact that she uses the past tense doesn't escape my notice, and my heart clenches painfully at the thought that I've done too much damage for us to come back from this. Before I can think about possible repercussions, I walk over to stand in front of her, my own hand shaking as I cup her cheek and ask, "Baby, what kind of man would I be if I didn't want to protect you? Hurting you hurts me." Bending so I can look straight into her eyes, I say, my voice rough with emotion, "You're the most important thing in my world, Little Bit. The only reason I shut you out is because I love you so fucking much. If something happened to you because of my family, if being with me caused you to be hurt, I wouldn't be able to live with myself. Knowing it was better for you that I stay away was the only thing keeping me from you." SarahBeth closes her eyes, shutting me out now, not allowing me to see what she's feeling. "Dammit! Do you honestly think I'd push you away if I didn't have a good fucking reason?" My voice rises with my frustration. Her eyes fly open, pinning me with her angry stare. Jerking away from me, she spins around, and tries to get herself under control in a way that's all too familiar. I can't help but smile as she faces away from me, her hands balled into fists at her side, she’s breathing heavily as she attempts to calm herself down. Finally, she turns back to me, but takes a step back, keeping her distance. She thinks that putting space between us will keep me away from her, but she's wrong. I've lived six weeks without her; I'm not going a minute longer. "God, you make me so mad," she seethes, looking at me in a way that makes me worry over sensitive body parts and what she might do to them in retaliation. "I can't believe you would do that, that you would just cut me off and take yourself out of my life without even telling me what was going on. I just..." her voice breaks and I watch as she deflates in front of me, no longer the angry little madam, but a sad young girl instead. "If you only knew..." Unable to take it anymore, the distance, the emotions, the whole damn situation, I take the three steps necessary to take her in my arms, refusing to let her go, even when she struggles. That might make me the worst kind of man, but she only pushes against me for a second before relaxing, clutching my shirt in her fists and burying her head in my chest.

Excerpt

"Isn't that SarahBeth?" Melanie asks, looking over to where a small blonde and a brunette are running towards a hallway between stores that leads to restrooms. I jerk around in my seat, trying to look closer and when I see Tyler watching after them, holding a purse and a few shopping bags, I know for sure it's them. At my nod, Mel touches my hand, bringing my gaze back to her earnest one. "Don't you want to go check on her? Make sure she's alright?" Do I want to? Yes, absolutely. Should I? Well, that's another matter entirely. I look back to the corridor they disappeared through, but don’t see them any longer. Just when I'm about to tell her no, I don't want to check on her, Tyler's eyes meet mine and the blatant worry in them has me nodding and heading in his direction. I don't look back to see if Melanie followed me because honestly, all I can think about is what could possibly put that look in Tyler's eyes. "Is she okay?" It's all I can do to keep my voice level when I reach him and ask the question I need the answer to the most. Tyler's looking everywhere but at me when he replies, "Yeah mate, she's fine. You can go back to whatever you were doing now." His voice is hard, it's easy to tell he's not happy at finding me with Mel, but his feelings aren't what worry me now. Before I can ask any more questions, Olivia and Sarah are walking back in our direction. They both stop in their tracks when they see me standing with Tyler. The moment she notices Melanie standing next to me her already pale skin loses all color and she begins backing up, away from our little group. The hurt in her eyes has me moving towards her before I can even process it. I want to explain myself. When what I'm doing registers, I stop, trying to keep myself in place, but when her eyes fill with tears and they overflow, rolling soundlessly down her cheeks, I melt. Reaching her, I cup her face in my hands, brushing away the tears as she trembles beneath me. It's the first time I've really touched her since everything went to shit and having my hands on her, having her this close to me, I feel like I've come home. Unable to hide the emotions racing across my face, I let her see just how much I've missed her as her breath catches in her throat. Her eyes are bouncing back and forth between mine in disbelief while the look on her face has me aching to touch my mouth to hers, to pull her into me so I can hold her. I don't get the chance to do any of that because at the same time a hand touches my back, SarahBeth sucks in a breath and steps back, her eyes brimming with tears even while she glares up at me, betrayal all over her face. I want to explain, to tell her what I'm doing here with Mel, to reassure her that it's not what it seems, but in the back of my head I think this is a good thing. I want her to let go of me, to begin to move on, to find someone that deserves her. Letting her think I've replaced her, no matter how much it hurts us both, is probably for the best. "Wait SarahBeth," Melanie begins as I step away from her touch. Instead, I grab the hand that was on my back and link our fingers together, this draws both her eyes and SarahBeth's. Mel's looks confused, but SarahBeth's guts me. She stares at our linked hands with an expression that's a cross between fury and despair before swiping her hands across her cheeks to brush away the few falling tears, and meeting my gaze head on. Her eyes are sparking with a fire I haven't seen in so long that I'm almost relieved. As she straightens her spine and holds her head high. she turns to Mel and smiles. Just barely tipping the corners of her lips up her smile is clearly fake but there nonetheless, she says, "It's fine really. I'm glad he has someone." Mel starts to speak up, but SarahBeth keeps her eyes on me as Olivia walks up beside her, puts an arm around her shoulder and glares at me. If looks could kill...that girl hates me. She starts to say something in her ear, but Sarah shakes her head. "There's nothing to say. I'm done with this," with that said she scoots out from under Olivia's arm and turns her back on me, this time I'm sure for good, and leaves me to watch her walk away from me this time. Tyler hurries to walk after them, muttering, "You're a bloody idiot mate," as he passes me. He doesn't get far before he stops, turns around and glares at me, much like Olivia did. "If you only knew..." he shakes his head, "Well, that would have gone a lot differently." I don't get the chance to ask him what he means before he heads after them, dropping an arm across each of their shoulders and handing the bags he was holding to Olivia.

The Proposition 5, by H.M. Ward

The Proposition 5: The Ferro Family (The Proposition, #5)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SAFE / SPOILER FREE REVIEW

I'm going to try and write this review in a way that will not give anything away. I absolutely loved the way this series ended. It's been an intense emotional ride throughout the the entire series and waiting for The Proposition 5: The Ferro Family to come out was excruciating for readers, especially after the information given in The Proposition 4: The Ferro Family. This is what happens when you put your faith and trust in the hands of a talented writer and just let yourself enjoy the ride and trust that the author will bring you to a wonderful destination. Because that's what reading is all about. You are taking a ride through a writer's imagination. And what a fantastic ride this was! Kuddos on yet another fantastic series H.M. Ward!

Was it shocking? Yes. Was it emotional? Very! Did it give me a Ferro-crossover headache of confusion? Yes! And I loved every second of it!!! The Proposition is a Ferro series that can be read without having read any other Ferro series. Up until this book, Bryan and Hallie's story wasn't intertwined too much with the other series... until this book. You get a little bit of Stripped and a little bit of The Arrangement. Although this concludes Bryan and Hallie's portion of the Ferro saga, it gives you some insight into the other 2 series, adding important information to plots, subplots and intrigues with respect to Jonathan and Sean's stories.

I won't spoil it by writing about the various emotions I felt throughout this volume, just know that I was completely spent by the time I reached the end.

P.S. The Epilogue... OMG!!! <3 <3 <3

H.M. Ward's serials:
Serials are shorter books (approximately 120 to 130 pages in print: 1/4 to 1/3 of a full-length novel) that come out more frequently than full-length novels (about 1 per month). They start off abruptly from where the previous book ended and end with a cliffhanger,  often leaving the reader begging for the next volume. Being shorter books, serials don't recap events that occur in previous volumes, so it's best to start off with book 1. I read at an average speed and each volume takes me about 1 to 2 hours to read.

About the Ferro family books:
The Proposition is a Ferro Family story about Bryan Ferro (Sean, Peter and Jon's cousin). Other Ferro Family titles are The Arrangement (Sean Ferro), Damaged (Peter Ferro Granz), Stripped (Jonathan Ferro), Secrets and Lies (???) and The Wedding Contract (Nick Ferro). You don't have to read the other Ferro Family books to understand The Proposition but if you like H.M. Ward's books, you may want to read all of them (see note on suggested reading order below). The Ferro Family books are contemporary "new adult" romance stories involving characters mostly in their 20's.

Ferro Family reading order:
Each series is stand alone & can be read in any order. However, if you are planning on reading all of the Ferro Family books, I recommend reading them in the order they were published (see below) to avoid any spoilers from one series to the next since they cross-over at multiple points in the timeline and seem to follow the chronological order of the story so far.

Books in order of publication date:

The Arrangement 1-4
Damaged 1
The Arrangement 5-7
Damaged 2
The Arrangement 8-9
Stripped
The Arrangement 10-11
The Proposition 1
The Arrangement 12
The Proposition 2
The Arrangement 13-14
The Proposition 3-4
The Wedding Contract
The Arrangement 15 (can be switched with The Proposition 5)
Secrets and Lies 1
The Proposition 5 (these events occur prior to the events of The Arrangement 15)

Alternate reading order:

If your afraid of confusing characters and plots by constantly switching from one series to the next, you may want to read the series in this order:

Damaged (finished)
The Arrangement (ongoing)
Stripped (ongoing)
The Proposition (finished)

As for The Wedding Contract (finished) & Secrets and Lies (ongoing), since they don't contain any spoilers (yet) from other series, they can be read wheneverOh, and I'd add The Secret Life of Trystan Scott (finished) in there so that you can get a better of feel for Trystan's character (he comes in around The Arrangement 10-ish and Stripped).

SCARED BANNER

They both know that being scared to death means you have something to lose. The question is, will they learn that it means you have something to gain too?

My review and rating: 5 of 5 stars

Scared To Death by C.S. Latu is a standalone contemporary romance (new adult) novel about Ruby and Noah, best friends since childhood, who have to deal with issues of confusion, misunderstanding and fear of loss when lust and physical attraction start to weave their way into their friendship. Psychological and emotional issues take their toll as we witness the characters evolve through their young adult lives. You can't help but root for them throughout the story. It's one of those deep seated friendships that you don't want to see end.

I stayed up way too late one night while reading Scared To Death because I just HAD to know what was going to happen next. That feeling of not wanting to put the book down hadn't happened to me in a while. I loved the friendship between the 2 main characters. The secondary characters are loveable and the last chapter gives off the impression that one of them might end up with his own novel.

The eccentric backdrop to this story is unusual and refreshing. Noah is into the art of the macabre, with a passion for making frightful masks and costumes and a good part of the story unfolds in an old house that is home to a wax museum.

Ruby is a very smart young woman and Noah is extremely sexy and sweet. This being said, you do, at one time or another want to slap both of them in the back of the head (but I love them nonetheless!).

A really smart, emotional, quirky, sexy, sad-but-happy book with a good balance of lightheartedness and drama, with unconventional characters that stand out from your traditional romance novel. I love the way C.S. Latu brings her story to life. Very well written.

Technical info: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance. Contains mature content (language, violence and descriptive sexuality). Told alternately from Ruby and Noah's point of view. Characters in their 20's.

About The Author
cs

I was born on a cold day in January. They said I was the only baby in the hospital. They also said that I picked my head up twice to turn away from people who came to see me after I was born (Who wants strangers looking at you after such a life altering event while you are naked?). Not much has changed. That cold day was 30 years ago in South Carolina. Needless to say, I got the twang! At the ripe age of 22, I married my man bear pig hubby who happens to be from Chicago. I learned that there are people who do not have accents, who sound like they have accents because they don't have accents. Mind blowing there. Our love story is pretty nifty. I met him online when I was 15 and chatted with him for four years, on and off as friends, until we met and I showed him some southern charm and BAM! Here we are ten years later with eight years of marriage and several fur persons rounding out the family thus far! My writing started as a child when I tried to write about three pewter statues of wizards coming to life. Books and words have always been a passion for me. My mind is incredibly random, if you talk to me for more than ten minutes, it becomes painfully obvious. I draw inspiration from absolutely anything and everything I come in contact with, with particular emphasis on music, pictures and the crazy situations in life. It is my hope one day to have a small hot air balloon tied to my chimney so I can write by starlight. I am pretty sure I would find that most inspiring.

Second Chances, by H.M. Ward and Stacey Mosteller

Second ChancesSecond Chances by H.M. Ward and Stacey Mosteller
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I found out that H.M. Ward and Stacey Mosteller were going to coauthor a book together, I lost my sh**. Actually, I fainted first and then I lost my sh**. Seriously though, I was ecstatic! 2 of my favourite authors (and favourite people) working together on the same book? It was unbelievable news! Now that I have this e-book (ARC) in my hot little hands, I'm close to cradling it to my heart and calling it "my precious".

OK, enough with the gushing and on to actual reviewing.

I love a good tear jerker once in a while and this one really hits the spot. It was ugly, loud, sobbing tears, right in the middle of the local coffee shop, making a couple patrons quite uncomfortable to be sitting close to me. Yes, there was the obvious sadness from the beginning of the story, which I kind of expected, but what floored me was the wave of emotions that overtook me when I started remembering my own feelings of loss and mourning that I felt a couple years back, remembering a dear friend that is no longer. Once the tears stopped, it was great to remember the good times, bringing the memories back to mind.

Tear inducing moments aside, this story is funny, sexy and heartfelt. It's filled with loveable characters and relatable situations! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll want to hire a lawn boy... because, really, every woman needs her own Daniel!

As for coauthoring, I know these 2 authors' writing styles so well and they blended together seamlessly. Every once in a while I'd smile because I'd recognize a trademark comment by one or the other but, other than those little moments, it was impossible to tell who wrote what. What a kickass team!!!

This is a stand alone novel (for H.M. Ward fans, THIS IS NOT A FERRO story although I've read on her FB page that there is supposed to be a Ferro appearance in the official version... it was purposefully omitted in the ARC version for more suspense!)

Rush Too Far, by Abbi Glines

Synopsis

Fallen Too Far was Blaire's story. Now it's time for Rush to share his side.

Everyone in Rosemary Beach thinks they know how Rush Finlay and Blaire Wynn fell in love. But Rush is back to tell his side of the story...

Rush has earned every bit of his bad-boy reputation. The three-story beach house, luxury car, and line of girls begging for time between his sheets are the envy of every guy in Rosemary Beach, and Rush handles it all with the laid-back cool of a rock star’s son. All he needs are his best friend, Grant, and his sister, Nan.

Until Blaire Wynn drives into town in her beat-up pickup truck with a pistol under her seat. The Alabama farm girl instantly captures Rush’s attention once he discovers that the angelic beauty is his new stepsister, but he vows to keep his distance. Even if she needs his help. Even if he craves her.

Because Rush knows why Blaire is all alone in the world, forced to ask for help from the father who abandoned her three years ago. And he knows if he gets too close it will destroy Nan, who has a secret connection to Blaire.

He has every reason in the world to stay away from her. Find out why he doesn’t.

My Review: 4 of 5 stars

Rush Too Far (Too Far, #4; Rosemary Beach, #4)Ah Rush Finlay! Such sexiness and caveman possessiveness (in case he doesn't make it clear enough in this book, Blaire is HIS! LOL!). It was great fun to read the events of Fallen Too Far from Rush's POV. I really enjoyed this read! This is the exact same story as "Fallen Too Far" (book 1) but told from Rush's point of view (Fallen Too Far is told exclusively from Blaire's point of view).

This book is book boyfriend brain candy for Rush fans. We witness first hand the inner turmoil he goes through from the moment he meets Blaire to the dramatic ending that leads us into "Never Too Far".

Never Too Far and Forever Too Far (books 2 and 3) are told alternately from both Blaire and Rush's points of view.

When I first read "Fallen Too Far" I cried! When I read it again, I cried! When I read Rush Too Far, I didn't cry BUT I did swoon! Knowing the story of the book, I wasn't in a rush (no pun intended) to finish it in one sitting, although the new parts (the parts that aren't included in Fallen Too Far because they are scenes that Blaire wasn't a witness to) had me hooked. His possessiveness towards Blaire was a little bit over the top at times and broke my concentration but hey! It's Rush! (I stopped counting the amount of times he said or thought "MINE" in regards to Blaire).

Abbi Glines knows how to write sexy men and vulnerable innocent girls. If you liked Fallen Too Far, I recommend reading Rush Too Far to get the other side of the story. For the newbie reader, I suggest starting with Blaire's POV view first (Fallen Too Far).

Everything I Shouldn’t
It’s been eight days, sixteen hours and forty-seven minutes since life as I know it ended. I know, it sounds so melodramatic and teen-soap worthy, but it’s the truth. Eight days, sixteen hours and forty-seven minutes since David found out. Since he kicked Jeremy out, ended their friendship and told me I could never see him again. I didn’t plan on David getting suspicious, and I definitely didn’t plan on getting caught. My selfishness has cost Jeremy everything, my brother won’t even look at me, Lyric must hate me for practically blackmailing her to keep silent and my best friend is barely speaking to me. Now my life is full of secrets and lies. The people around me have been affected by the choices I’ve made and the lies I’ve told. But what will they do when they discover the biggest secret of them all? Jeremy is everything I shouldn't want, and the person I can't live without.

Everything I Shouldn’t (Nashville Nights #2)

My Review

This is SarahBeth and Jeremy's backstory, prior to the events of Save Me from Myself. This story helped me understand why things went down the way they did and made me love SB's character (because, let's face it, in SMFM, she's a bit of a Queen Bee!). Now that we are up to speed with SMFM, I can't wait to see how everything gets resolved in their second book! The cliffy end does go a bit beyond SMFM and it left me with my mouth gaping. The book made me laugh, cry, s
woon, not to mention got me hot and bothered at times! These Nashville Nights peeps are starting to feel like family to me!

Ok, now, down to the nitty gritty. Jeremy??? HOOOOOOOT! I love his character. Not what I was expecting AT ALL from him, based on what little we'd read from him in SMFM! After having read about his best friend David, who was so sweet and gentle in SMFM, here comes Jeremy. Whoah! He is sexy and knows how to talk smut, I tell you! He is a dirty, dirty man and I love him all the more for it! LOL!

Most of the book occurs over the span of 5 or 6 years, from the moment tragedy hits and SB and Dave lose their parents in a car accident up to the emotional events at the end of Save Me from Myself. During those years, you see SB grow from a teenager to a young woman and better understand her motives for being the not so likeable character we met in book 1 of the Nashville Nights series. As for Jeremy, we see how a man's protective, big-brotherly type love for her grows into something so much more over the passing years. We also learn a lot more about his personnal issues.

Nashville Nights: SB & Jer's story is told in 2 books (this is number 1). The Nashville Nights books are individual stories that intertwine focusing on different characters from one to the next. They can be read seperately (except for Everything I Shouldn't, which is a 2 book story). New adult romance with language and descriptive sexual content.

Excerpt from Everything I Shouldn't

Mel’s eyes narrow and she stalks over towards her. “I hope you’re happy,” she says, pointing a finger at SB’s chest.

SB stops dead in the middle of the room and her eyes widen when she sees Mel’s tear-stained face. “Um, I’m sorry?” She looks between us both, her brow furrowing in confusion. “What’s going on?”

“What’s going on?” Mel laughs, but it’s humorless. “You want to know what’s going on? That’s rich. I was hoping you could tell me!” Her voice rises as she speaks, and she looks a little scary. I can’t blame SarahBeth for moving away from her slowly. It doesn’t stop Mel though, she just follows her as she rages. “We’ve been together for three years, and suddenly, he tells me that we can’t be together any longer.” I didn’t think it was possible, but SarahBeth’s eyes get even wider. “I can’t help but think that it has something to do with you, SarahBeth.”

“I…I….” SarahBeth stutters, completely stunned. The bags she was carrying when she walked into the room have long since fallen to the floor as she tries to process what’s going on here.

She looks to me for guidance and I shake my head before returning my attention to Mel. “Melanie, this has nothing to do with SarahBeth. I told you, I just don’t want to be in a relationship right now.” The excuse sounds lame even to my ears so I’m fairly certain that Melanie won’t buy it either.

“Right, Jeremy. Nothing at all to do with her, huh?” Her eyes narrow as she holds my gaze, but I won’t be the first to crack. I stare silently back at her, unwilling to acknowledge her concerns, until finally she huffs and turns away. “Whatever. I’m sure as hell not going to stand here and argue with you about it. I have more self-respect for myself than that.” Then, turning to SarahBeth, she says, “If there truly isn’t anything going on here, then I’m sorry for bringing you into our argument. Somehow though, I really doubt that that’s the case.” With those words, she gives me one last glare before leaving the room and slamming the front door behind her.
