Synopsis:

It’s been eight days, sixteen hours and forty-seven minutes since life as I know it ended. I know, it sounds so melodramatic and teen-soap worthy, but it’s the truth. Eight days, sixteen hours and forty-seven minutes since David found out. Since he kicked Jeremy out, ended their friendship and told me I could never see him again.

I didn’t plan on David getting suspicious, and I definitely didn’t plan on getting caught. My selfishness has cost Jeremy everything, my brother won’t even look at me, Lyric must hate me for practically blackmailing her to keep silent and my best friend is barely speaking to me.

Now my life is full of secrets and lies. The people around me have been affected by the choices I’ve made and the lies I’ve told. But what will they do when they discover the biggest secret of them all?

Jeremy is everything I shouldn't want, and the person I can't live without.

Prologue:

SarahBeth

I've been in love with my brother's best friend, Jeremy, for as long as I can remember. Just saying the words aloud causes my heart to clench. I’ve never admitted it to anyone other than Olivia, but I knew she’d never tell a soul. She encouraged it actually, went out of her way to help me find sexy outfits to wear around him and helped me come up with some crazy plan to make him notice me. Those usually ended with him scolding me so they probably weren’t the best way to get his attention.

I’m not really sure when my feelings for him started changing. First, my love for Jeremy was the love any child has for her hero. My dad was always busy, and while, my brother David loved me, Jeremy was the one who kissed my knee when I fell off my bike, the one who taught me how to climb a tree, all the things my brother - who even as a teenager was over-protective of me - didn't want me to do. He never grouched about having to watch me like David did, he was always willing to play games with me and include me in whatever he and my brother were doing.

I was heartbroken when David went away to college, but the fact that Jeremy was gone too devastated me in a way that not even losing my parents did. All of a sudden I was alone. They both kept in touch after they left for school, at least at first. The phone call came every few days for months, but gradually became only once a month or less, especially after David came back for Christmas and argued with our dad. After that, the only time David would call was when he knew Dad was gone. Then, when our parents died and everything fell apart; Jeremy was there to comfort me, to hug me, to dry my tears. That doesn't mean that my brother wasn't there, because he was. He was just stuck being the grown-up. David had to deal with funeral arrangements, lawyers, wills, the court and our grandparents.

Once Jeremy and David moved back home, David became more of a parent than a brother, and Jeremy made every attempt to fill that role. Unfortunately, my feelings for Jeremy were never that simple. The fact that he became as over-protective now as my brother is did nothing to discourage my growing infatuation with him. Up until recently though, Jeremy never gave any indication that he saw me as anything other than David's little sister.

I’ve been chasing after Jeremy since about a month after my brother moved back and brought him with him. We spent a lot of time together because he was trying to distract me from the life I was thrust into, taking me to the movies, hanging out, helping with homework… all the stuff that brothers do with little sisters. It didn’t take long for hero worship to turn romantic. But looking back, it’s clear I wasn’t the only one with a secret. At the time, I thought that the reason my brother didn’t react the same way Jeremy did when I really started dating was because he was so preoccupied with getting his business off the ground and raising me. Now, I can see that the reason Jeremy always did his best to scare away any guy I brought around was because he was jealous.

I imagined that convincing Jeremy to give me a chance, to really look at me like a woman, instead of his best friend’s baby sister would be impossible. But just when I thought I should give up, he kissed me. We continued our relationship in secret because I was afraid of what David would say and how he would react. It didn’t take much to convince him to keep it a secret, even though I know it bothered him to not be able to tell him.

I finally got everything I wanted, but I fucked it up royally. I lied to my brother, my best friend, even Jeremy. I was so concerned with what I wanted that I didn’t give anyone else a thought. Jeremy wanted me and maybe even fell in love with me, but now, everything I had, all the people who loved me; none of them are here. It’s all so completely screwed up, and I have no idea where to start fixing anything. Jeremy's friendship with David is ruined, my brother broke up with Lyric, Olivia won't even speak to me. I'm completely alone for the first time.

I have so much to make up for. I’m the hateful bitch who destroyed a friendship, made someone who could have been a friend lie to my brother, and I kept secrets and lied to my best friend’s face. I have no idea how to even begin to make things right, but I know I have to try.

Jeremy

I fucking knew this thing with her would blow up in our faces. I should have known better, but instead, I went for it. It’s always been SarahBeth for me, always. And not in a dirty old man way, don’t call Chris Hansen and To Catch A Predator because it’s not like that. When it started, I was jealous of David. He had a dad and a mom, which was already something I didn’t have, and then came SarahBeth. She was this tiny little thing with big eyes and curly blonde hair, I swear to God, she looked like an angel the first time David showed her to me. He was disgusted and pissed because she was crying all the time and taking all the attention. Meanwhile, I would have given anything to have the life he had.

As she got older, she worshipped her brother, and me by association. Following us around, trying to imitate us and running after us on her short little legs. By the time she was old enough to chase us, we were thinking about cars and tits not little sisters, and she drove David crazy. He’d get impatient and yell and she would cry. Big, fat tears that broke my heart, even back then.

We grew up, moved out and then moved on, leaving SB behind us. At least for a while. Then, the unthinkable happened. That night, it almost broke David. I think it did in some ways, but SarahBeth? Man, it destroyed her. In the blink of an eye she lost her parents. In a way, she gained a new parent in David because he took the “guardian” title to a whole new level. In fact, and it makes me feel like an asshole to say it, but I think Dave may have been more her father than her actual dad was.

When we moved back, David spent a lot of his time building his business. It was easier for me in a way because I just had to get hired. David built his job from the ground up, which took up the majority of his time, leaving me to entertain SarahBeth. We got extremely close during that time. I knew she had a crush on me, but I thought it was more hero worship than true romantic feelings. I was wrong.

The older Sarah got, the more beautiful she became. Gone was the tiny tomboy who wanted to follow us everywhere, and in her place was a beautiful woman. The more time I spent with her, the more I started noticing things about her; the smell of her hair, how soft her skin was. The more I noticed, the more I tried to stay away. The sister of my best friend shouldn’t be the girl I can’t stop thinking about. I did everything I could to distance myself from her, making excuses when she asked me to take her places, showing up with a date when I knew she would be there, even though I knew it would hurt her. The lengths I went to were atrocious and shameful, but I was trying to avoid this situation. Instead of thinking of her like a sister, I was thinking of her as someone I wanted to own. She became the girl I wanted to claim, to make sure everyone knew she was mine.

Finally giving in and taking her should have brought relief, but instead all it brought was more stress and in the end more heartache. I’m old enough to know better. Hiding things never works, secrets always come out. I wanted her more than I wanted his friendship, and look where it got me. He hates me, she’s devastated, and everything is completely fucked up.

I have to make things better; I need to fix this. Fixing my friendship with Dave and deserving SarahBeth is the only thing that matters to me now. He has to understand that hiding our relationship wasn’t to hurt him; we weren’t trying to deceive him. We were only trying to figure out how to tell him. David discovered us before we were ready, before we could figure out what to say to him. We should have just been honest from the beginning. If I had just gone to him before, explained that I do love her, that I will be good to her, maybe he would have given his blessing.

At least then, we would know. David’s reaction might have surprised us. Instead, I let the fear of losing his friendship, of no longer being like brothers color my reactions and influence my decisions. I’m done being afraid; I’m done hiding. Making him understand just how much I want to be with her, that she is it for me has become my top priority. Now I just have to figure out how to get him to talk to me without him kicking my ass.

The Proposition 4, by H.M Ward

For inquiries about release dates: H.M. Ward never sets release dates for her serials. She usually gives us fans a general idea of when a book will be released a week or so prior to it's release on her Facebook page. A good clue is when she opens up ARC requests on her Facebook page. Normally, once the ARC requests open up, you can expect the book to be released a week or 2 later, but this is very variable.

This is a Ferro Family series about Bryan Ferro (a.k.a. the Ferro cousin). Other Ferro Family titles are Damaged (Peter Ferro Granz), Stripped (Jonathan Ferro) and The Arrangement (Sean Ferro). You don't have to read the other Ferro Family books to get into The Proposition but if you like H.M. Ward's books, you may want to read all of them (see note on suggested reading order below). The Ferro Family books are contemporary "new adult" romance stories involving characters mostly in their 20's (college aged women & slightly older men).

The Proposition 4: The Ferro Family (The Proposition, #4)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I typed up my review in Goodreads, there was a little line asking me "What did you think?" just above the review comment box... What did I think? Hmmm... well, here's my thought process while reading The Proposition 4:

Awh... this is so sweet, yet so sad... oh, OH! MY! SEXY!!! What?!? *blushes* Oh! (can't look... wait, I gotta look...)... *peeks through fingers* Eeeeeeeeep! THEY DID WHAT?!? Um... guys, uh, you can stop now... uh... oh dear Lord, there they go again!!! Whoah baby!!! Aaaaaaaaaaah *smokes an imaginary cig* (cuz I don't smoke for real)... coming back down to... oh, now I just want to slap someone! No friggin way! And... oh the a**h***!!! Ugh! Yes, Hallie, you do that! You go girl! But wait... GAH! The nerve!!! Now I want to shoot someone (but not for real, because I'm really not a violent person). And then... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! *Cries uncontrollably in the fetal position on my bed*

Does that sum it up for you? In short, this is another very emotional H.M. Ward book. Possibly the most erotic one to date (if you have any underlying heart conditions, you may want to ask your doctor for permission to read this). A LOT of emphasis is placed on their highly sexual, erotic and somewhat bdsm relationship. This is the 4th of 5 books so we obviously have lots of questions left unanswered by the end but some VERY IMPORTANT information is given and other characters are coming into play, showing their true Ferro colours. At this point, I'm thinking that the background to this story may be an important link to other Ferro series, but that's just my theory.

Things needed to read The Proposition 4: A box of tissues, a cold shower, a cig (if you smoke), a defibrillator (in case you go into cardiac arrest), a bottle of hard liquor & your favourite stuffed animal (for hugs afterwards),

Reading order: Although each series is stand alone & can be read in any order, if you are planning on reading all of the Ferro Family books, I recommend reading them in the order they were published to avoid any spoilers from one series to the next since they cross-over at multiple points in the timeline.

However, if your afraid of confusing characters and plots by constantly switching from one series to the next, you may want to read the series in this order: Damaged, The Arrangement, Stripped, The Proposition, The Wedding Contract.

Books in order of publication date:

The Arrangement 1-4
Damaged 1
The Arrangement 5-7
Damaged 2
The Arrangement 8-9
Stripped
The Arrangement 10-11
The Proposition 1
The Arrangement 12
The Proposition 2
The Arrangement 13-14
The Proposition 3-4

H.M. Ward's serials:
Serials are shorter books (approximately 130 pages in print: 1/4 to 1/3 of a full-length novel) that come out more frequently than full-length novels (about 1 per month). They start off abruptly from where the previous book ended and end with a cliffhanger,  often leaving the reader begging for the next volume. Being shorter books, serials don't recap events that occur in previous volumes, so it's best to start off with book 1. I read at an average speed and each volume takes me about 1 to 2 hours to read.

Ferro Family Tree:

(yes, I know, I know! There was an updated version of the family tree included in the bonus material at the end of The Proposition 4. As soon as that image is made available for sharing, I will replace this older one with the updated one!)

Screen adaptation update:

H.M. Ward is working hard on bringing the Ferro Family story to the screen. It's looking like it may be a web series. Here are some current updates, as per H.M. Ward herself on her Facebook page:

"There's a script being written about the FERRO guys right now. It's pretty good too. Im impressed and nothing impresses me. Damn good script writer. Can't wait for that." - May 2nd 2014

"Calling all actors and singers - here's your big chance! I'm looking for new faces. Make a demo reel, upload it to your site. youtube or whatever, and get ready. Casting calls will start soon for THE ARRANGEMENT. BE READY!" - April 2nd 2014

Never Wanted More, by Stacey Mosteller

I received an Advance Reader's Copy (ARC) from the author for an honest review:

Never Wanted More (Nashville Nights, #0.5)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In thinking about what to write in this review, one word kept coming up more than others: CUTE!

I love Peyton and Wyatt, they are so CUTE together! This is a sweet college romance with a sexy touch of sizzle! A perfect read to pick up if you're looking for something quick, with no cliffhangers. A nice dose of "aaaawh!". Also a wonderful read for Mosteller's "Nashville Nights" fans. I won't spoil the ending but the way it ends, although very CUTE, had me in stitches (you'll get it when you read it).

Things to know about this story in regards to the series: "Never Wanted More" (NWM) is book 0.5 in the "Nashville Nights" series (i.e. the events occur prior to the events of book 1, "Save Me From Myself" or SMFM). It is a stand alone novella about 2 completely new characters in the series. Some of the secondary characters in NWM are somewhat linked to other characters of the series but you don't have to be familiar with them (i.e. you don't have to read the other books to understand this one). Whereas SMFM is set in a more adult setting, NMW (this book) is set in a younger college setting.

I loved getting to know Peyton and Wyatt. She is so snarky and he is so sweet and patient. If you're looking for a nice, quick college romance with a nice balance of sweet and steamy, go for this one.

Stacey Mosteller's characters come to life on the pages with very distinct personalities and I love discovering all of them. As you read about all her secondary characters, you can't help but wonder what she has in store for them, once they get their own stories.

Can't find "Never Wanted More" online? Try looking for it in the "Southern Seduction" box set. It will soon be released on it's own for individual purchase.

Synopsis:

Peyton Williams is spoiled, entitled and a little too stuck up. The daughter of an influential Mayor and a socialite mother, she's trying to get through college and make her own path. She's perfectly happy being a loner until Spring semester when she gets not only a roommate, but a math tutor.

Wyatt Parker is the boy from the wrong side of town. Known as the son of the town tramp, he jumps at the scholarship to play basketball in Nashville where no one knows his roots. Spending this semester tutoring a friend's snobby roommate wasn't what he envisioned, but Peyton quickly gets under his skin.

Peyton never wanted more until she met Wyatt, but is she willing to be what he needs?

S.E.C.R.E.T. Revealed, by L. Marie Adeline

*** Warning: This book contains sexually explicit content ***

S.E.C.R.E.T. Revealed (Secret, #3)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved, loved, loved it!

This is the 3rd and last book in the S.E.C.R.E.T. trilogy. It is the story of a secret women's society who's goal is to bring empowerment and self-esteem back to women through their sexuality and desires. As with the 2 previous books, SECRET Revealed contains powerful messages for women of all ages. Dealing with issues of stereotypes, stigmas and preconceived ideas around women and their sexuality, it also deals with teenage bullying, an issue that is just too prevalent in our society, and the double standard that sexually active men are perceived positively whereas a sexually active woman is perceived negatively in our society.

Beautifully and sensually written, this book contains many scenes of highly descriptive sexual content.

I was a little bit nervous going into SECRET Revealed because the 2nd book ended with a pretty intense love triangle and I was concerned about how the author would resolve it in book 3. Dividing her readers into 2 distinct "teams" (team Jesse and team Will), it's tricky to find an ending that will please everyone but L. Marie Adeline managed to do just that. Throughout my reading, I was struck with moments of laughter, shock, giddiness & frustration, ending in a beautiful and satisfying way.

Dual point of view (Cassie and Solange). Since I had found Dauphine's part a little redundant in book 2, I was concerned that Solange's point of view would also be redundant, reliving yet another candidates steps through SECRET. I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED to see that Solange's chapters were very different from both Cassie and Dauphine's experience as a SECRET candidate. I LOVE that Solange is in her 40's and a mother, a category of women that is very rarely associated with sexuality in literature .

I'm leaving my SECRET experience very satisfied and will most definitely revisit this story again and recommend it to all the women in my life.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange of an honest review via a literary PR company.

Synopsis:
The only thing that Cassie Robichaud has ever really wanted is Will Foret, the love of her life. But when Will discovers that Cassie is part of S.E.C.R.E.T., an underground group devoted to helping women experience their deepest sexual fantasies, Will breaks it off. Heartbroken, Cassie dries her tears and devotes herself to helping the latest S.E.C.R.E.T. recruit, Solange Faraday. Cassie also reignites her relationship with sexy bad-boy Jesse, even if he can never love her as deeply as Will did.

Meanwhile, beautiful, brilliant Solange, a local news anchor and divorced mom, has a great career but a wilting love life. She rekindles long-lost passions, going deeper and hotter than any other S.E.C.R.E.T. candidate before her. Will she find what her heart most desires? And when Will realizes he's made a tragic mistake, will Cassie be able to forgive him? In the end, as both women blossom as sexual beings, they also discover that ecstasy and true love are closer than they ever imagined.

SECRET Revealed is the explosive, sensual and sexually-charged finale to the bestselling S.E.C.R.E.T. trilogy.
